2011-2012 College Football Bowl Predictions

College Football Week 4 – Winners and Losers

The Biggest Winner:  Oklahoma State Cowboys

Mike Gundy and staff were overwhelmed in the first half as the Cowboys could only muster 3 points and gave up 20 points in the first half at Texas A&M but give them credit as they made the correct adjustments and blew Texas A&M out in the second half winning 30-29.

This should give the Cowboys the leg up receiving one of the two likely bids in the BCS this year in the Big 12 and if it comes down to them or Texas A&M.  They also get Baylor and Oklahoma at home this year.  They definitely still have a shot at the national championship game if their offense is consistent.

Clemson Tigers – The Tigers are now in the driver’s seat to win the Atlantic Division in the ACC after defeating preseason favorite Florida State on Saturday. This is the same team that struggled with Wofford two weeks ago in a 35-27 final score.  Amazing how things can change in two weeks by beating Auburn and Florida State.  However all this excitement could soon end as they go into Blacksburg to play Virginia Tech this weekend.

LSU Tigers - LSU jumps to the top of the polls after defeating West Virginia over the weekend.  The Tigers get huge recognition for playing out of conference games against Oregon in Cowboys Stadium and West Virginia on the road.  It would be nice to see some of their other conference foes do the same thing once in a while.

Arizona State Sun Devils – 1999 was the last time the Sun Devils walked out of a USC game and claimed the win.  The Pac-12 South teams benefitted with USC being on probation and not able to participate in the Pac-12 championship game this year.  It looks like it might not matter as the Sun Devils might win the division out right.

Temple Owls – Don’t sleep on the Owls.  They barely lost to Penn St. two weeks ago 14-10 and hammered the Maryland Terrapins 38-7 in Maryland.  They’re looking more like the favorite to win the MAC this year.

The Biggest Loser: Florida State Seminoles

Less than ten days ago Seminole fans had visions of being in the national championship game if they could defeat the Oklahoma Sooners at home.  Now we’re projecting them in the Sun Bowl after losing to Clemson last week.  Injuries have killed the Seminoles dreams this year.  They must now hope Clemson falters to get a shot in the ACC championship game.

Boise State Broncos – The Broncos once again demolished their opponent by defeating the Tulsa Hurricane 41-21.  Unfortunately their Mountain West Conference opponents continue to have embarrassing losses that will kill Boise State’s computer rankings.  New Mexico lost to Sam Houston State 48-45 and UNLV got pounced at home 41-16 to Southern Utah.

Texas A&M Aggies – 20-3 at home at halftime.  What happened?

WAC Conference – The WAC had a great opportunity to show how strong their conference was with victories against a couple of BCS schools and the Mountain West but they just couldn’t finish at the end.  Mississippi State 26 Louisiana Tech 20 in Overtime, Colorado State 35 Utah State 34 in overtime and Texas Tech 35 Nevada 34 were nearly biggest winner material.

Toledo Rockets – The Rockets get robbed at Syracuse because the officials can’t see that an extra point was missed.  Ridiculous!
