2011-2012 College Football Bowl Predictions

College Football Week 4 Preview

Game of the Week

1A – #7 Oklahoma State @ #8 Texas A&M – This is a huge statement game for both of these championship contenders. Texas A&M appear to be the favorite as they are the home team and their stats look dominating so far. Stats, however, can be deceiving! The Aggies have won games against SMU and Idaho; not exactly world beaters are they? Oklahoma State has put up huge offensive numbers and looks almost unstoppable. The key to this game will be the defense of the Aggies, if they can at least slow down the Cowboys, A&M QB Ryan Tannehill should be able to orchestrate enough offense to beat OSU. Pick – OSU 42 A&M 38

1B – #14 Arkansas @ #3 Alabama – Here we have the classic SEC battle. Alabama comes in with one of the best defenses in college football while Arkansas boasts the 8th best scoring offense in the country. This game will hinge on which team will be able to control the ball. Trent Richardson is going to get his yards but can Ronnie Wingo match him? Could this be a huge upset in the making! In the end Coach Saban has his team prepared and his defense is just too good. Pick – Bama 24 Arkansas 17

Other Games of Note

Missouri @ #1 Oklahoma – Oklahoma has to guard against a let down after their huge win last week in Florida. Missouri does not have the talent that Oklahoma has but if they don’t take them seriously Missouri could give them a fight behind sophomore QB James Franklin. We still believe in Landry Jones and the Sooners but keep your eye on this one. Pick – OK 38 Mizzou 24

#2 LSU @ #16 West Virginia – The Mountaineers have really been flinging the ball around the field this year. Junior QB Geno Smith will face his biggest challenge Saturday when he faces the vaunted defense of the Tigers. LSU needs to hold the Mountaineers to under 20 points though because we don’t see their offense scoring much more than that. Pick – LSU 24 WVU 20

#23 USC @ Arizona State – This is a classic Pac-12 showdown. Matt Barkley and USC travel to Tempe to face Brock Osweiler and the Sun Devils. The QB that has the best night is going to win this game for his university. Pick – ASU 31 USC 28

Upset of the Week

#11 Florida State @ #21 Clemson – While FSU was losing to the #1 team in the country and getting their QB banged up in the process, the Clemson Tigers were beating the defending national champs. Now FSU has to travel into a hostile environment where the Tiger faithful now believe. The Clemson crowd along with Sophomore QB Tajh Boyd is just too much for the beaten up Seminoles.  Pick – Clemson 31 FSU 21
