College Football Week 7 – Winners and Losers
The Biggest Winner – Kansas State Wildcats
CollegeBowlProjections.com didn’t even include the Wildcats in the preseason bowl projections. Now they’re 6-0, we have them in the Alamo Bowl facing the Arizona State Sun Devils and are a true contender for the Big 12 title after defeating Texas Tech 41-34 in Lubbock. Bill Snyder continues to amaze as his team has quickly become one of the great stories of the season.
They get a break this week playing rival Kansas but then have as tough a schedule as any team in the next four weeks.
October 29 – vs Oklahoma
November 5 – at Oklahoma State
November 12 – vs Texas A&M
November 19 – at Texas
K-State fans should be delighted if they can go 2-2 in that stretch.
Stanford Cardinal – The Cardinal have won 9 straight games by 25 points or more. Are you kidding me? Andrew Luck has 18 touchdowns, only 3 interceptions and has been sacked only twice all year. This team deserves more attention.
Ohio State Buckeyes – They were our biggest loser last week but turned it around against undefeated Illinois in Champaign. The Buckeyes completed their only pass in the fourth quarter but they stopped the bleeding after losing two straight weeks.
The Biggest Loser – Michigan Wolverines and Illinois Fighting Illini
We knew both these teams weren’t as good as their 6-0 record and they proved it this week. Michigan State took care of business at home defeating the Wolverines 28-14 and the Illinois offense couldn’t get anything going against the Ohio State Buckeyes’ defense offering them three turnovers.
Baylor Bears – Baylor now has two losses in the Big 12 conference and have been all but eliminated from the title. Robert Griffin III continues to shine but losing 55-28 to Texas A&M this last week will hurt his chances from being a finalist in the Heisman Trophy race.
WAC Conference – The mighty WAC doesn’t have one team over .500 after seven weeks of college football. BCS busting is not in this conference vocabulary since Boise State left to the Mountain West.
