2011-2012 College Football Bowl Predictions

College Football Week 9 Preview

Games of the Week:

#9 Oklahoma @ #8 Kansas State – This is put up or shut up week for the Wildcats. Bruce Snyder will have to pull off his best coaching yet to knock off the Sooners. The Wildcats win games by running the ball and playing defense.  The Sooners are a high scoring offense that will be tough for Kansas State to slow down. We think Landry Jones and his WR’s, Broyles and Stills, will be too much for the Cats. Pick: Oklahoma 34 Kansas State 20

#11 Michigan State @ #14 Nebraska – This is another prove it game for both teams. Nebraska has been solid but not spectacular. They really need QB Taylor Martinez to find the form he had at the beginning of last year. They won’t give up many points to the Spartans but they need to score to win. Kirk Cousins and company need to repeat last weeks performance on offense. We are not sure that is possible on the road. We look for a low scoring game with the hot QB pulling it out for his team. Pick: Nebraska 21 MSU 21

#6 Stanford @ USC – Last Week the Trojans showed they were for real by going into South Bend and beating up on the Irish. Stanford also flexed their muscle destroying the 25th ranked UW Huskies by 44 points. We love the Barkley to Woods connection but we also saw the absolute domination by both Cardinal lines last week. We always  go with the “Big Uglies” over  skill positions! Pick: Stanford 42 USC 31

#22 Georgia vs Florida – Mark Richt is again fighting for his job, this time at the “World’s largest Cocktail Party.” The Bulldogs face their first ranked team since losing to South Carolina in week 2 while the Gators are facing their fourth straight ranked opponent. Luckily for the Gators, Brantley is expected to start against the Bulldogs. We don’t love either team but we expect a close one.  Pick: Florida 31 Georgia 24

Upset of the Week:

BYU vs TCU – The Horned Frogs are huge favorites against the Cougars… Why? They have played 2 “real” teams and were beaten by both. BYU on the other hand has started to play well behind senior QB Riley Nelson. We expect a close game and an upset. Pick: BYU 27 TCU 24
