Georgia Tech—The Coastal Division Favorite for ACC Championship
The Biggest Winner – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Georgia Tech was on life support to reach the ACC championship game after losing at Virginia and at Miami in consecutive weeks. The team appeared to be tumbling and had undefeated Clemson coming to town to seal their fate because it put them two games behind Virginia Tech in the Coastal Division. The Ramblin’ Wreck stepped up and dominated Clemson in the first half for a 24-3 halftime score and they never looked back. They get Virginia Tech at home this week to tie them in the division and win the tiebreaker. It looks like another Clemson vs. Georgia Tech match-up at the end of the season.
Nebraska Cornhuskers – Nebraska’s victory against Michigan State has created a three way tie at the top of the Legends Division in the Big Ten. Michigan State has an easier schedule the rest of the way as Nebraska must go at Penn State and at Michigan the next two weeks but at least they control their destiny with the tiebreaker.
Houston Cougars – Case Keenum threw 9 touchdowns against Rice and is still in the Heisman race. It’s too bad their best opponent on their schedule so far is 4-4 UCLA.
Utah Utes – The Utes finally get a victory in the Pac-12 against lowly Oregon State 27-8. The Colorado Buffaloes are jealous.
The Biggest Loser – Clemson Tigers
The Tigers saw all their BCS championship hopes fade away at Georgia Tech over the weekend. Tigers have exceeded all expectation this year and still are the favorites to represent the ACC in the BCS this upcoming bowl season.
Baylor Bears – Hopes were so high for Baylor early this season but after giving up 59 points to Oklahoma State the expectations have decreased immensely.
Wisconsin Badgers – The Badgers continue to be vulnerable outside of Madison and a victim to the Hail Mary at the end of games.
Florida Gators – Will Muschamp’s first season as head coach of Florida is becoming less spectacular each week against SEC competition. A close loss to Georgia puts Florida 4-4 for the season and completely unacceptable in years to come in Gainesville.
