2011-2012 College Football Bowl Predictions

SEC Bowl Games

The mighty Southeastern Conference is the “King” of college football right now.  The BCS national championship game was started in 1998 and the SEC has been in the game 7 times and has won each time including the last five seasons.

1998 – Tennessee
2003 and 2008 – LSU
2007 and 2009 – Florida
2010 – Alabama
2011 – Auburn

Is there any possible way the SEC can get shut out of the BCS national championship game with those results?  A SEC one-loss team may very well bump an undefeated BCS conference team from the national title game.  How could you complain?  The SEC continues to dominate the top programs in every other conference.

As Auburn was winning the fifth straight national title for the SEC conference the rest of the conference had a so-so performance in the other bowls.  They finished the 2010 bowl season with a 5-5 record(Do we get to count Arkansas as a victory after Ohio State vacated the victory? Shall we say 6-4?).

The preseason media poll has Alabama as the big favorite to win the SEC this year.  They received 98 first place votes to 29 first place vote to second place LSU.   The South Carolina Gamecocks are the preseason favorites for the Eastern Division although they were fourth amongst all SEC teams behind the Crimson Tide, LSU Tigers and Arkansas Razorbacks.

Alabama has a schedule advantage playing LSU and the Razorbacks at home this season.
