2009-2010 College Football Bowl Predictions

USC Defeats Penn State in the 2009 Rose Bowl

Posted by CollegeBowlProjections.com On January - 2 - 2009

pete_carrollIt’s the second year in a row after watching the Rose Bowl we ask:  How is USC not in the national championship game?  How can this dominant program be excluded from the final game of the season? Are they receiving the respect they deserve?

What else do they need to do to prove they’re the best program in the country?  The Trojans lowest ranking at the end of the season since 2002 has been #4.  Are we dealing with another east coast bias?  Are voters sick of the USC monster?

Let’s create some rules in order for the best teams to be invited to the national championship game:

Rule 1: Get rid of the BCS and give us a 16 team playoff.

Rule 2: No Big Ten team can be included in another national championship game until the conference wins another Rose Bowl.

Rule 3: USC should never play another Thursday night game on the road.

Rule 4: If you lose a game at home you’re eliminated from the national championship game (Goodbye Florida.  Sorry but you’re living off the SEC reputation this year.  You have no business getting in this game when you lost to Ole Miss at home.)

Rule 5: If you have played a team on a neutral field then the losing team can’t be invited to the national championship game. (Goodbye Oklahoma.  Texas was completely robbed this year.)

Rule 6: BCS teams must play two BCS teams in their non-conference schedule each year.  Who isn’t so sick and tired of watching BCS teams beat up on a small school?  We only get 12 games each year!  Play a good team for crying out loud and let us really evaluate how good each conference is during the season.

Texas can blame their schedule for playing Florida Atlantic, UTEP and Rice this year.  If they had played a better non-conference schedule they probably would have been in the national championship.

Question: But what if they lost one of those non-conference BCS games?
Answer: They didn’t deserve to be in the national championship game.

We’ll create more rules until they fix this BCS mess.
